## Background
Justin Underwood began his career at the El Paso District Attorney's office, where he prosecuted thousands of cases from simple misdemeanors to serious felonies including murder, presented cases to grand juries, and worked with law enforcement agencies on trial preparation. He has served as a special prosecutor for the State of Texas where there were conflicts with the elected District Attorney. He left that office in 2004 to form the firm.
He was elected to the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation, an honor extended to one third of one percent of Texas attorneys each year. He is a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and sits on the board of the El Paso Bar Association. In 2020 he was named El Paso's Most Outstanding Lawyer by the El Paso Bar Association.
He serves on the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities in El Paso and was appointed by the Mayor of El Paso to the city's Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone board. He has lectured at the Texas Tech School of Law, the University of Texas at El Paso and El Paso Community College, and has been a featured presenter at legal seminars across the United States.
He graduated with honors from Texas Tech University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science, and from the Texas Tech School of Law in 2001, where he was a member of the national mock trial team and of the Board of Barristers.
