What happens after you call

Three steps, and you know which one you are in the whole way through.

  1. 01

    The first call

What happened, roughly when, and whether there is a court date. That is enough to know whether this is something the firm should take. Nothing is filed, nothing is committed, and the conversation itself does not create an attorney-client relationship.

    • It costs nothing

The case review is free and there is no obligation afterward. If the firm is not right for your matter, you will be told that, along with who is.

    • It is confidential

What you say in a consultation is protected even if the firm never takes the case. That protection is what makes it safe to be specific.

    • Puede ser en español

La consulta, las llamadas y la comunicación sobre su caso pueden ser completamente en español. No necesita traer a nadie que traduzca por usted.

  2. 02

    A partner reads it

Which partner depends on what the matter is. The firm is three lawyers rather than a floor of associates, so the person who assesses your case is the person who would carry it.

    • Dereck Wyatt

Criminal law and litigation. He has handled thousands of cases and taken a wide range of them to jury trial, from DWI to murder, and has been called to testify in court as an expert witness.

    • Justin Underwood

He began at the El Paso District Attorney's office, prosecuting thousands of cases from misdemeanors to murder and presenting cases to grand juries. He has served as a special prosecutor for the State of Texas, and left the DA's office in 2004 to form the firm.

    • Elena Grasheim

She came to the firm from Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, where she provided legal services at no cost under a fellowship. Before that she wrote federal regulations and legal opinions at the United States Department of Agriculture.

  3. 03

    You get a straight answer

Including when the answer is that you do not need a lawyer, or that the matter belongs somewhere else. A firm that only ever says yes is telling you something about the firm.
