While she was in law school she worked full time at the United States Department of Agriculture, writing federal regulations and legal opinions for the Animal Care division of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. She attended The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., and received a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Our Lady of the Lake University.
